The Janice Elliott Supportive Housing Tenant Award was established to recognize Janice Elliott, the first Director of the Corporation for Supportive Housing’s Southern New England Program, whose unique gifts, dedication and intelligence make her stand out as a leader in the supportive housing movement. Nominees should serve in the public sector or work in the private sector and show: - A commitment to creating new supportive housing and
- Leadership in representing his or her sector in the movement to end long-term homelessness.
The Rev. Richard Schuster Supportive Housing Advocacy Award
Nominees should be professionals or volunteers who show: - A strong commitment to supportive housing advocacy and
- Dedication to raise awareness about the need for more supportive housing.
The Rev. Richard Schuster award was established to honor Dick Schuster, a true leader in advancing and advocating for supportive housing, who passed away in August 2009. Dick made ending homelessness his life’s work for over forty years and he led St. Luke’s LifeWorks as Executive Director for twenty-two years. A founder of the CT Coalition to End Homelessness and the CT AIDS Resource Coalition, Dick was also a founding member of the Reaching Home Steering Committee, which he chaired for three years.
